Pike Place Market and The Gum Wall | Seattle, Washington

Among my trips in 2021 came my trip to Seattle Washington in June. June is one of the better months to visit because you have the least amount of rain. Tourists do’nt care about the weather when visiting Seattle, as I noticed walking around Pike Place Market and the original Starbucks coffee shop. We visited the farmers market, walked around and saw the many vendors with so many great creative skills. Afterwards, we waited in line for an hour and a half to walk into the original starbucks and get my photo taken by the front window, and also spent a good amount of money there on souvineers (of course who would’nt?) The barista inside had mentioned the wait is like that every day and the best time to come is right when they open up in the morning. I guess from a tourists perspective, it would be cool living here and working at this starbucks. But from a person who lives that every day, maybe her view is a little different.

The gum wall was next, and it was more of a hit for me than my husband (haha). I thought it was so cool and colorful (and of course a little weird, but something Seattle made into a neat tourist area- among all the other ones.)

Back to the farmers market- among the vendors were two bakeries that stood out to me. Mostly for the big cookies and giant donuts that could fill 4 people (I also love donuts so naturally I migrated towards them.) When walking around in there, I felt there was’nt any room to explore. There were so many people everywhere. Locals getting their breakfast, flowers for their wives, other tourists looking to spend money on the next touristy product. I enjoyed it, don’t get me wrong, but I definitely would like to visit again and take more time there. As a photographer, it was neat getting to see two vendors displaying their work outside of the market for people to purchase in frames. Unfortunately, the homelessness was very high in the city. We bought some local barbecue and mac-n-cheese for lunch and took it onto the grass overlooking the bay. The barbecue was of course amazing!
